Kayserispor Director İçgül: Every Match Should Be Played Like a Final

Kayserispor Sporting Director Seyit İçgül said the club earned 9 points in the first three weeks of the 1. Lig. "We think we have made a good start," he said, emphasizing that every match in the 38‑week season should be played in a final atmosphere. İçgül added, "There will be ups and downs, but we must start well, continue well, and finish well," and that the same performance should be maintained until the end of the season.

İçgül explained that the squad is completely new: "We had 17‑18 players leave, and we added roughly 15 new players to the squad." He noted that the changes were not easy, citing the difficulty of releases, past debts, and transfers. He thanked the board for the sacrifices and financial support.

Kayserispor’s goal is promotion at the end of the 2025‑26 season. İçgül said, "Kayserispor’s aim is to get promoted. We have been competing in the Süper Lig for years. We do not think Kayserispor is worthy of this league," and that the competition is such that 6‑7 teams will be fighting for the championship. He added that the new squad focuses on adding players experienced in the league. "We want to bring the right player in the most economical way," he said.

Seyit İçgül praised the atmosphere created by the fans in the Sivasspor match. "I also thank the fans. Even though it was our first match at our own stadium, the atmosphere was championship‑like," he said. He highlighted that the fans’ support boosts the players’ performance.
