Mardin 1969 Spor fans have announced they will file a criminal complaint against Kayserispor supporters following incidents after a Trendyol 1. Lig match. Kayserispor won that fixture 1-0 away on 20 September 2026 with a goal from Daniel Moreno in the 18th minute. This victory marked the team's 4th win in their last 5 league matches, and they currently lead the league with 19 points.
Speaking on behalf of the fans, lawyer Gurbet Bilbay detailed the alleged events. Bilbay stated, "As a result of this match, our fans were sworn at and insulted, subsequently the seats belonging to the state were broken and when these seats were thrown, citizens' cars were damaged. There was also a danger of them falling on people." He said the complaint would cover charges of property damage, intentional injury, and insult.
ALLEGATIONS FROM BOTH SIDES
Mardin 1969 fan Emrullah Başçı claimed the incidents began a day before the match at 15 July Martyrs Park. Başçı said Kayserispor fan groups attempted to attack civilians and police intervened. He alleged that during the 90 minutes of the match, provocative actions and swearing were directed at them, but they did not retaliate. "They won the match, it's football, anyone can win. We congratulate everyone," said Başçı, adding that stadium seats were broken and thrown after the final whistle.
Another supporter, Enver Kavak, made similar claims, stating there were no issues in the city centre but they faced insults and swearing inside the stadium. Kayserispor club has not yet made any statement regarding these allegations. Focusing on maintaining their league position, Kayserispor will host Manisa FK on 10 October. The behaviour of supporters and potential disciplinary action are likely to remain a topic of discussion.
